Fabulous End of the Week!

Miss Lubs Class: Today we continued reading our new book called “Granny Torrelli Makes Soup” by Sharon Creech – it is getting quite interesting! After we read, we practiced the new Italian words we are learning in the story!  Tutto va bene!

4th Grade Girls Groups: Today we continued with a self-esteem activity called “A Movie of My Life.”  The purpose of the activity is to increase the girls’ awareness of the significant events that have helped formed their inner self-picture. We will continue the activity next week!

Social Thinking Group: Another lively group…..hard to harness all the energy and keep Brain Eater from appearing! Our “What did you say? What did you mean?” phrase today  was: Sometimes this group is “full of beans!” This helps our kids understand metaphors and idioms. We also continued our game called Bamboozle! This game helps the kids to pay attention to “The Big Three” – Vocal Tone, Body Language and Facial Expression. Today, the boys told me how they were feeling making sure to use the word “Bamboozle”  in a way that communicated the feeling! Finally, we continued the new Superflex adventure by reading the book “Superflex Takes on Glassman and the Team of Unthinkables”  The kids are super excited!!!!   Today we categorized problems into small, medium and big problems and then grouped them and discussed superflexible coping strategies! Mrs. Jordan came in at the end of the group to say hello and the boys told her all about the different things we’ve been learning!
