Miss Lubs Class: As a culmination to our book chats, today we read “Lemon the Duck” – a true story about a duck who has a neurological disorder and who was adopted by a kindergarten class. The kids really enjoyed the book and being able to see Lemon’s website that had movies of Lemon doing various things with all of her special needs equipment. We had a great discussion and I hope that I left the impression with the class that the word “ability” is the most important part of the word disability and that we are all “Differently Abled”!!

Fourth Grade Girls: Today we wrote a letter to Dr. Liguori’s 5th grade girls group at the middle school asking a variety questions about our soon to be new school!  Dr. Liguori’s fifth graders will write back soon!  We also played Cosmic Catch!  It’s a game of catch with an electronic ball that knows the kids’ throws and the kids have to keep up with the commands to win! The idea is to work as a team to get the highest score. Lots of fun!

Social Thinking Group: The boys were in a fabulously good mood today!  We played “Choose!”  A game that helps children learn to make good choices, improve coping skills and enhance decision making skills. Each boy did a wonderful job of defeating the Destroyer of Fun and Glassman…they were nowhere to be found!  Superflex is PROUD!
Happy Weekend Everyone!

A day full of meetings!

There were no lunch groups today, due to the many PPTs scheduled….I missed all the kids!

5th Grade Social Thinking Group: Today we went to the gym and played Cosmic Catch!  It’s a game of catch with an electronic ball that knows the kids’ throws and the kids have to keep up with the commands to win! The idea is to work as a team to get the highest score. We did a fairly good job of keeping the Destroyer of Fun away..but we still had a few moments!  More practice is needed!

  • A game of catch with a catch-the talking ball knows your throws.
  • Players wear color-coded bands that let the ball identify them
  • Try to keep up with the commands to win.
  • It has four game modes: Pass Around, Reverse Catch, Elimination and Code Buster.

8th Grade Girls Group: Another mixed group today….some new faces, too! We had lunch, chatted and played Black Jack!

7/8th Grade Social Thinking Group: Today we went to the gym in hopes of defeating the “Destroyer of Fun” and “Glassman”….we almost had a 100% success rate!  Still working at it!

Happy Friday of a long weekend!

All school field trip today to the Aquarium!!!!  Although we did not have 4th grade girls’ groups today – Miss Eriksen did get to go as a chaperone!

Social Thinking Group: Another lively group…..the boys came back from the field trip just in time for group. We decided to play UNO Attack so that they could practice their social thinking skills. Most of the boys demonstrated excellent social thinking skills….but we had a couple of DOF (Destroyer of Fun) moments – the boys were great about processing at the end of the session.

Happy Long Weekend Everyone!

We survived a very warm Wednesday!

7th Grade Typical Peer Lunch Group: A very supportive group today!  One of our members had trouble running the mile in PE today, so after lunch, the whole group decided to walk the mile with him in support!  He finished!  What a great group!

5th Grade Boys Group: The boys were in the mood to play “Break the Safe!” They sure do love this game!

8th Grade Girls Group: A remarkable group!  Big discussion about responsiblity for behavior and how only we can control how we feel….the girls were fabulous and made me realize that they are actually learning something! Gotta love it!

7/8th Grade Social Thinking Group: No group today due to Panther Pause!

Wonderful Wednesdays Rock!
