Debate in 2011-2012: We meet on Thursdays after school in room 111. See Ms. Hartnett if you are interested in joining!
Debate topic for January/ February: Online education vs. traditional classroom education. EXCELLENT JOB! Arguments were well researched and organized. Affirmative made a strong case with cost considerations and “individualized learning” points. Negative stressed socialization considerations and did a good job countering the “cost” argument!
Next meeting scheduled for February 23- NEW TOPIC TO BE DETERMINED BY PARTICIPANTS! Come with ideas!
Some of last year’s debate topics were: “Schools should ban junk food” and
“Television is a bad influence on children”… and more!
October 6- Great First Meeting! Everyone has his/ her debate folder, debate format notes and possible debate topics. The topic (voted on) for next week is PDA in school. Is it a good idea? Be prepared with ideas for BOTH sides of the debate! It should be fun:)
