Dear Mrs. Bitting,
I had a lot of fun in D.C. It was really cool there. The thing I liked most was the Museum of Natural History. I liked the Dinosaur Exhibit. I thought the exhibit wood always be cool when I first heard about is and it was. I had lots of fun in the exhibit.
Dear Mrs. Bitting,
The museum I found most interesting and emotional was the holocaust museum. I think that this museum affected me the most because when you see all the skinny bodies you can’t believe how the people were treated and how the Nazis cared so little about them. I think one of the most powerful things in the museum was the shoes of all the people that had been killed. At the end there was a movie playing that showed three or four survivors and they each told their story. One thing that really shocked me was the story that a lady told about how they were finally being liberated and were going to be free and she went to go tell the kid that she had been taken care of but she found her dead. Then she must have realized that even though they were leaving the ghettos and concentration camps the hatred towards them wasn’t going to end. They would still be put through so much.

Dear Mrs.Bitting,
Out of all the interesting museums that I visited, I think the Holocaust Museum was very interesting, sad, and made me emotional. All the exhibits in the museum hit me pretty hard, especially when I saw all of the shoes of people that were killed. For example, when I saw the videos of the Jews in concentration camps, I was shocked how they were so skinny- they were just skin and bones. I found it really sad how the Nazis just didn’t even care about what they were doing to their fellow humans.

Dear Mrs.Bitting,
I really enjoyed the holocaust museum. I thought this museum was really cool because it almost felt like you were in the holocaust. Actually living when the holocaust was going on, it was really emotional inside the museum. I saw a bunch of people crying and just realizing what it was like for the people who lived in the holocaust. Sincerely, Katerina Barker
The most substantial moment on this trip for me was visiting the holocaust museum. Every photo I saw sent chills all throughout my body. Every empty face was alive at one point and was brutally murdered. All of them had names. All of them had a story. Now they are dead because some of them looked different. Who will remember them when the survivors are gone? It is up to us to remember them now. We must not and shall not forget what the Nazis did. The way they destroyed countless people to “free their country.” The way they used their lifeless bodies for “experiments.” It makes you wonder why. Why would someone want to annihilate an entire race because they have brown eyes? Or because they worship a god the Germans don’t like? They burned the dead bodies like twigs in a furnace. Men can be dark, but there is always light. Dale George
My favorite place to go was Arlington National Cemetery. This was because I want to be in the Marines also I wanted to go to section 60 to see the graves from the wars we are fighting right now. Also liked going to the Vietnam Memorial. Liked going there because I got to see how war could take a lot of lives.

One of the things I really enjoyed was the play Sheer Madness at the Kennedy Center. It was a murder mystery, but it was hilarious! The actors were awesome and we all loved it. All of us were dressed up and our school was even mentioned by the actors at one point in the play, along with several other schools that were here. We even got a chance to help the actors solve the mystery, giving them clues to help them see which actor was guilty. We had a great time.

My favorite museum today was probably the Air & Space museum. I really enjoyed learning about space travel in particular. When I saw the Apollo space capsule, I was in complete shock. I would never be able to be that cramped for even an hour. It was amazing though, all of the technology behind the space missions. In my opinion it was crazy how precise calculations had to be for a successful mission. I want to even try to go back another day this week. I’m really enjoying Washington D.C. so far.

My favorite experience in Washington DC was Shear Madness. This is because it was probably the funniest play I have ever seen and to me that am what a play should be. Another reason I liked it was because we got to interact with it too. My second favorite part was either the Washington monument or seeing John McCain and even though we did not get to get to go up in the monument seeing it was awesome because I never thought I would see it in my life and the same reason for seeing John McCain because even though I don’t really like him I still didn’t think I would even see him at all in person either.

Yesterday, my group went to the museum of American History, one of the Smithsonian Museums. It was really interesting to see all the pop-culture items that the museum had. They even had Kermit the frog! It surprised me that the museum had an original Muppet. They also had the ruby slippers used in The Wizard of Oz. I also enjoyed the war parts of the museum. They had everything from the Revolutionary War to Iraq. It was really cool to learn about all the technology that was developed to fuel wars.
We also saw an awesome play called Sheer Madness. It was about a barbershop, except that rather than cutting hair, somebody was cutting people. There was a murder, and the police had to uncover who had done it, with help from the audience. In the end it turned out that whoever the most people voted for would be the one who did it. The play itself was hilarious, with dozens of pop-culture references that mean that they keep the show up to date. They talked about everything from Sarah Palin to Balloon Boy.
All in all I really enjoyed this trip. Sincerely, Zach Bazydlo
Yesterday we went to a play and it was funny, it was about a murder and it was cool. Also went to a mall.

When visiting the museum of natural history I saw all the different dinosaurs that died millions of years ago. My reaction was that I am glad that they are extinct today because if they weren’t I think that the human race would be extinct and that wouldn’t be good.

The coolest and best thing I saw was the dinosaur exhibit with the big skeletons. That was the one thing I wanted to see when I came. They were really big and cool. I liked everything, but this was the best.

Today was an amazing day to be in our Nation’s capital of Washington D.C. My favorite part of the day was when we went up to the top of the Washington Monument and got to see four different views of about 25 miles around Washington and beyond. When we first got into the monument, after passing through security, we stood waiting for the elevator to take us up to the top. While we were waiting I felt so excited that I would be able to see the spectacular views. When the elevator arrived I was very excited and immediately jumped in. On our way up the tour guide told us that the Washington Monument was built with no steel or metal supports holding it up. Finally we were there, at the top of 555ft. As I looked out of the first window my breath was swept away; the view for me was spectacular, it overlooked the Jefferson Memorial, Tidal Basin, and the Potomac River along with part of the city. The second window was a view of the Lincoln and World War II Memorials and the Reflecting pool, that was a view never to be forgotten. The next thing I saw was the backyard of the White House and a large chunk of the city. The final view I witnessed was my favorite or very close; I looked down upon the National Mall and the Capital Building, it was spectacular! The short time we spent at the top of the tallest structure in the city was one I will never forget (at least not for a very long time)!

We got to wondering by are self with our group and we got to test the displays and walk around. Right now we are on the bus heading for the dance. I am really excited… I love dances!

My favorite part so far in Washington D.C. is probably the Air and Space Museum, part of the Smithsonian. Mr. George was somewhat a “tour guide”, and was very good. He knew a lot about all of the planes and rockets and explained everything. I liked the museum because all of the planes taught us about the wars. They did this because they were the planes that were used in the wars. So far we saw most of the museums and saw the Laying of the Wreath Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. All of the guards were scary perfect. They took perfect steps, they had perfect outfits, and they had perfected everything. So far, everything we have done was awesome.
Dear Mrs. Bitting,
Yesterday we went to the Museum of American History. I really liked that one because of all the real things it had from history like the hat that Abraham Lincoln was wearing the night he was assassinated. I thought it was really cool to have that stuff there because it helped me to imagine what it was like when it was happening. Some other things that I liked like that were the ruby slippers that are from The Wizard of Oz a nod the dresses from the first ladies. Thanks for helping me to go on this trip and see all these great things!
Sincerely,
Lindsay Pratt
Dear Mrs. Bitting,
On our trip to Washington, D.C. we were able to visit so many amazing and historical sights, such as the Washington & Lincoln memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, the American History Museum and many other places. But, I think out of all of the places we visited, the Holocaust Museum was my absolute favorite.
After reading Daniel’s Story in class, it was so interesting to see different points of reference and making connections with the book. I think after visiting the museum I have a better understanding of The Holocaust but I also have many more questions. Also, seeing real pictures, videos, clothes, letters, and other artifacts was so amazing to me; it made me kind of realize that The Holocaust really happened and it’s not just a chapter in a textbook.
Sincerely,
Rachel McGinn

Today my group and I went to the Natural History Museum. We saw an Imax movie about the ocean. We got to see different animals in it, such as dolphins, sharks, and more. It was also about how humans over fish and how the fish and animals survive. The movie was in 3D so it was fun to see the animals pop out at you. An exhibit I enjoyed was the Dinosaur exhibit. I liked seeing all of the fossils and different animals we don’t have today. It was very interesting. I am having a lot of fun and I am excited to see the play tonight!

Hey Mrs.Bitting having a great time in dc. The most interesting thing that I thought was important was the holocaust museum. I had a really hard time going through it. The part that I found most interesting was when we saw actual people and how skinny they got. I also thought that it was a gruesome and frightening. Other than that I also thought everything else was cool.

Dear Mrs. Bitting,
This week I have seen a lot of stuff. It has been fun and interesting. My favorite part was going to the White House. I liked this the most because it looks a lot different than on TV, the Internet or movies. To me, it looks a lot smaller and I thought there would be much more security around it.
Sincerely,
Ryan Francis
Dear Mrs.Bitting
I have had a lot of fun at Washington D.C. but my favorite place was the Holocaust museum. This was my favorite place because looking and reading all the different facts were interesting; for example one fact about World War 2 is that about 11 million people died in world war 2, 1 million American soldiers, 3 million polish and 6 million Jews died in world war 2. Also in the museum there were a lot of dramatic pictures of what the Germans did killing humans and doing experiments with their bodies/organs. I also have a lot of questions about the museum too. One of my questions is why did they hate the Jews the most in Europe? Another one was why did the Jews do those weird experiments with their organs /bodies. This shows why I liked the holocaust museum was my favorite place in Washington D.C.
Sincerely.

Dear Mrs. Bitting,
Throughout this whole trip I have seen some amazing stuff. My group and I have gone to the museum o American history and natural history. But my favorite museum we went to was the air and space museum. It was filled with huge airplanes and rockets. I learned many things while walking through the many exhibits of the museum. One thing that I learned was that the Boeing 747 was the first ever-commercial airplane. There was a place in the museum where the front of the Boeing 747 was where you could walk in and look in the plane. While I was looking around I saw that there definitely more than one hundred buttons where the pilots flew the plane. It took me by surprise of how many buttons those pilots need in order to safely fly the plane to its destination. That was definitely my favorite part of the museum.
Sincerely,
Nick Ryan

One thing interesting that I saw and learned about was when my group went to the capital building. This was interesting to me because as we were there we saw John McCann. We also got to go in this room called the whisper room. It was called that because from one side of the room you can hear the muffled voices of the people on the other side of the room. One last thing that really interested me was that I’m the middle of the building you can see a painting of the whole U.S.A history from the landing of Columbus to the first fight with the right brothers.
After going to the Holocaust Museum I felt very sad. I can’t believe that’s people would kill others just because they were Jews. All the pictures and videos mad me feel bad for all the people that were a live during that time. –Bridget
My favorite part about today was going to the national history museum because I had fun learning about our history and things I never knew about. For example I learned about our countries flags and the history behind them. –Shenice McCarthy
My favorite part of the trip was the Shear Madness play at the Kennedy Center. I thought the play was very funny and entertaining. My favorite part of the play was when the actors asked the audience for their opinion in who killed Isabelle.
-Caitlyn Shaw
My favorite place we have been to so far is probably the Air and Space Museum. We learned a lot about the airplanes that were used for transportation and wars. Mr. George, Dale’s dad, was somewhat a tour guide. He walked with us around and explained
Everything we walked by. I liked this museum because we learned how the planes evolved from the Write Brother’s plane to unmanned aircrafts. We also learned about how the planes contributed to the wars. When we first got to D.C, we went to a place called Arlington National Cemetery. There were so many graves of all of the war veterans. We also saw the Laying of the Wreath Ceremony where Dale George and Emily Cassata laid the wreath. The guards there are scary perfect even though they have to be. That was another one of my favorite places.
Zach Fister
Well I would have to say my favorite part o the trip was. Going to the American history museum and going to the price of freedom exhibit and seeing all of the American wars we fought through the years. And seeing the tech get better through out the years we have been in. And I liked that part because I have a great interest in the history of America.
Patrick O’Rourke
My group and I went to the Washington Monument. The monument was built of different types of stone. If you go to the top of the monument, you can see for a couple of miles. My favorite part was being able to see the White House. The monument is the largest structure not supported by steel or concrete.
Tiffany
Dear Mrs. Bitting,
My favorite museum was the holocaust one. It was my favorite because I’ve learned about it in years but nothing put me into prospective like that did. Something I learned in the museum was how many towns were completely ridden of Jewish people; there were so many towns on the wall I probably would loose track if I tried to count them
Sincerely,
Jake Miner
Dear Mrs. Bitting,
During the day we were doing whatever our group wanted to do. So we had decided to go to the museum of natural history because in my group’s opinion it sounded the coolest. I think my favorite part of the museum was the part of all was the exhibit of all the mammals! I thought the best part of that exhibit was the beaver exhibit. Even though the beaver wasn’t alive it gave you a chance to see the underneath of the beaver dam. I thought it was cool because right beside the cage was a description of the beaver dam and how warm inside. I also thought it was the best part in the exhibit because it was also the most detailed part in the exhibit. I learned that many animals with tails and know how to climb use their tails to balance themselves so they don’t fall down the tree.
That is where my group went and visited at our group’s free time too. Sincerely,
Kyle S.
