DAY 3 (zombie like state)

We really went all out today. Everyone is dead tired. It was very humid and we did A LOT of walking. The video is a bit shorter than usual, but I promise that there will be a full length DC07 movie out in the next month or so.

DC Day 3 Blogs

Today is the third day of our trip. It is Thursday, and we are all very tired and ready to head home tomorrow. Yesterday we visited the Holocaust Museum, and we were all very moved. I cannot believe how quickly Hitler’s Germany expanded to include so much of Europe, and how many people followed him. I wonder what people in the rest of the world were thinking during that time. Did they not even know what was happening to the people in concentration camps? Did they care, or were they only concerned about themselves and their own country? I wonder how I would have acted if I lived during or was in the Holocaust. What would I have thought if I was a German soldier? There are a lot of questions on my mind and the minds of others.

Yesterday I went to the Holocaust Museum and it was fun, but seeing all the things that I saw was kind of sad. Thinking about all of the stuff I saw could be happening to me but it didn’t and to think that I would have been one of the ones who would have nothing to do with the whole thing unless I was a soldier fighting for the Nazis because I am an American and I am catholic. What I saw over the cement walls was terrifying, disgusting and any other gross word you can use to explain what was over those walls. I thought that the museum was one of the most important thing in this country or in the world probably in the top fifteen if I said so. I really enjoyed the museum though and it really was very important. And if I cold go there again I probably would not for a little while because what I saw I will remember for a while but when I forget I will hopefully return but I don’t think that the museum will be getting out of my head any time soon. But other than the different parts that needing seeing but really didn’t the museum was pretty interesting and I would like to visit again later in my lifetime…

Some question’s that I have is. Do you think there is ever a chance of this happening again in a different country?
Do you think if the Nazis knew they were doing something wrong then they wouldn’t have done it? Do you think that this could have happened to a different religion or race of people? If this had happened to people in America there would have been a different out come?

The “green topped” museum was my favorite. I got to to see the hope diamond and all of the other HUGE gems and jewels. There was also a great exhibit on photography of nature. They were truly AMAZING! I remember one that had two bears, a grown one and a baby, and the baby bears front paws were on the big bears back. It was so cute.

Today we had a lot of fun at the capital building and a big greenhouse called Botanical garden. Then we went to museums: the Air and Space Museum was awesome. I went with Colin P on a flight simulator that you controlled. We went up side down and it was so awesome.

Iwa Jima was really fasinating. Their shoes are probably as big as me! The experience was very uplifting and insiriing. I just wanted to say that I was awed by the sight for the history that it holds.

Hi people *_* !! It’s about 10:20 on Oct. 4,07, the last three days have been great (including today). Touring monuments, going to museums, and other stuff… My personal favorite was the World War II memorial. Now looking out the window watching a softball game for about five seconds, I think that it is pretty awesome playing sports “under the lights.” Also the H on the sign on the Holiday Inn is out… so basically we’re staying in the oliday Inn!! Well got to go…. Thomas Mathews

Maria was here

On the 3rd day in Washington we went to the Air and Space Museum and we learned a lot but I have to say that the flight simulator was the most fun thing there. Chad Gray and I went in the interactive one and we broke the record of 30 kills. We got 62.

DAY 2 (less sleep)

First of all, I apologize to everyone who tried to access the video this morning and could not. I had to make the youtube videos public in order for you to get them. because of this, I will be taking them off the site upon completion of the trip (maybe a few days after) in order to ensure your child’s privacy. Here is the video from today (10/03/07) as well as the written blogs. Enjoy!

Today we went to the Holocaust Museum. It was really interesting to see what all of the Nazis did to the Jews. It was really sad and I saw some people crying. Once the Nazis killed the Jews that they wanted to kill they would go over all of the dead bodies with a truck so that they made sure that all of the people were dead… just in case. My favorite part of the Holocaust Museum was when I was with Sam and Nicole and we went down to floor three…that was when we found the exhibit with the shoes and hair they gathered. They used the hair to make blankets and they used the shoes to show how many people the Nazis actually killed… and there were A LOT of shoes. It was really amazing. I hope to go back there again, sometime in the future.

I was just at the Holocaust Museum and it was very disturbing because it showed things that were real and the horrible things that they did to the Jewish people and others. I was very sad in some parts because I was just wondering how people can do that to other people. When we where in there it showed all the shoes or some of the shoes of the people who got killed. But otherwise that I thought it was a good experience. And I hope to lean more interesting thing.

Here is an update of our trip.
Today is Wednesday but it seems like everyone is tired already. Last night was really fun. After we arrived, we went to Arlington Cemetery and watched the laying of the wreath ceremony. It was hot but pretty cool to see. Then we got back on the bus and went to Fuddruckers. We had a choice of only a few things to eat but the food was good. We packed up on the busses again and went to Shear Madness. It was so funny. I didn’t know that a murder mystery could be so funny. They let the audience take votes of who we thought did the murder. All together the trip has been really fun. I can’t wait to see everyone, see you a few days.

Rilee

When we first went to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier I wasn’t sure what to think. But as we walked my emotions became clearer. I realized this isn’t just another cemetery with soldiers in it, this is something to show real honor to all those who lost their family members and to the soldiers who lost their lives in battle for their country. I was really moved when they were changing guards and laying the wreath. I was a little creeped that everything was so exact. They had to take 21 steps and wait and stare at the tomb for 21 seconds.
Then after the cemetery we went to a play called Shear Madness. It was so funny that I was crying, that’s how hard I was laughing! There was a hair salon murder incident, Isabelle was a ex-famous pianist who was murdered by scissors. Sitting there just having a good time in Washington made me happy I came on this trip. Today we are going to the National Cathedral and I can’t wait to get there to see all the wonderful colored glass windows. I’m not that religious, but I heard that this church can make everyone feel something. Whether happiness, sadness, or even madness, it usually has a positive affect on people, but you never know. We are also going to the Holocaust Museum and I am nervous about that because on the third floor it really shows us some of the hospital/science experiments. I really want to learn more by seeing, but I will say I am scared. I don’t want to be heart broken before the dinner dance. The dinner dance is on a boat. We eat then boogie! I still miss my mom a lot but I am going to have a good time on this trip no matter what. So that’s what I have to say about Washington so far, bye!

I think that the Holocaust Museum sends a powerful message to people about all the pain and misery that the Nazis put the Jews, gypsies and homosexuals through. It was brutal and immoral what Adolf Hitler did and I think that he was such a coward not owning up to his mistakes and committing suicide. I really would like to talk to a survivor about their experience and what it was like when they were taken by these disturbed people. –Jim Bryant

DAY ONE:

Hey Kourt, Asiana, and everybody else. We are just leaving the rest stop where we ate lunch. Maria dropped a coffee and got it on Jen, but thankfully she had a “Tide to go,” and she was able to get out the stains. Well, I wish you guys were here and I hope you’re having fun! Rilee wants me to write about her so… She is sitting behind me and pulling my hair, the end!
-Kathleen

Arlington~Today we went to Arlington National Cemetery. I was very moved by the laying of the wreath ceremony. My cousin Scotty is in Iraq right now. I worry and think about him every day. I guess it just hit home, and I cried. It was really cool to see the soldiers changing shifts. I thought it was really awesome that we were in a cemetery where former presidents, generals and soldiers, stood If you think about it, they could have been standing in the same spot! It was a very moving experience.

Austin:Woah, today was AWESOME!! I’m looking forward to tommarow so much. HI MOM DAD AND AUBRI!!! Miss you!

Andrew:
Today was awesome. I can’t believe it’s still the first day! I can’t wait to experience everything else on this trip.

Mariah this ride to Washington D.C. was very amazing because we got to see all of the bridges that we learned about and the tall buildings. I hope we can go on another trip this far away again

Asia~
Personally I thought that the trip was going to be kind of boring but once we arrived at D.C. I started to become interesting because we got to see all the history of D.C. My favorite part so far was Shear Madness!
But there is a lot more to come (says Mr.Agins) but I can’t wait for the rest of the trip, I like it SO FAR!!

Pretty sweet this is like the ‘bestest’ trip in the whole wide world during school trips. I can’t wait until the rest of the sweet trip.
-Tyler Krzyzaniak

z- I never thought that the bus ride would ever end! It was worth it though. The play was so much better than the one in minn. Broadway is really missing out. Glad we got to dress up then go home and relax and not have to wear high-heels the whole time we’re walking. Tomorrow will rule! I can’t wait to go to the Holocaust Museum. I’ll probably freak out a little, but still, it’ll be worth it, we can then stop that torture from ever happening again, to any extent. Got to pass it on. Zie in and out!~

It was fun even the play, but I wanted to see the eternal flame.

I loved the Shear Madness, it was awesome, especially Wycombe! He’s the best! But other than that today was a great day I enjoyed it a lot. Can’t wait ‘til TOMORROW! BRI OUT!

Kyle: The bus ride was horrible!

Erika j: The bus ride was very long!! But Sheer madness was awsomeness!! I like tong he was so sick nasty sweet!!

Stephanie Albert- The bus ride was so much fun! Blasting the music, playing yellow car, watching the goonies, and being stuck into an all guy area being forced away from my friends, but it was really fun to talk with them. I can’t believe we’re actually here!

Samantha lake
Wow, we are actually here! Today was really hectic. The Tomb of the Uknown sSldier was a sight I was glad I did not miss. We couldn’t see the Kennedy grave site and the eternal flame because it closed 2 minutes after we got there (frown)! Shear Madness was fantastic and I will never forget it. I loved how we got to try to solve the mystery!

Hey guys its jen an rilee!
We’re on the bus after our lunch break.
Maria dropped her coffee which forced us to jump quickly and accidently bump into an old lady that yelled at us… Ohh man this is a pretty long bus ride
Oh well we’re still having fun only a few more hours!
(wishing kourtnie was here)
xoxo
rilee and jen
